Distribution network intelligent upgrading and transformation project

Project overview
Replace smart meters for the xx urban distribution network, deploy distribution automation terminals, and build a unified monitoring master station to achieve remote meter reading, automatic fault location and isolation, and refined line loss analysis.
Indonesia fit
Help utility customers complete the procurement of smart meters, feeder terminals, communications, main stations and training at one time, avoiding gaps in hardware compatibility, data protocols and local operation and maintenance capabilities; the solution adapts to the uninterrupted power transformation needs of Bali tourist areas, and reduces the risk of system idleness in the later stage through the Indonesian language interface, remote support and spare parts strategy.
Professional configuration and standards
The smart meters are configured according to IEC 62052/62053 metering requirements. The distribution automation terminal supports IEC 60870-5-104, DLMS/COSEM or equivalent protocols. The on-site box meets the IEC 60529 protection and IEC 61643 lightning protection requirements. During the transformation process, a live operation risk assessment was performed to complete metering accuracy, communication coverage, remote signaling and telemetry, fault location and main station joint debugging tests.
Key specification comparison table
| Configuration items | common practice | Optimized delivery specifications and value |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement method | Manual meter reading, errors and missed readings | AMI smart meter, 0.5S/1.0 level accuracy, remote meter reading |
| communication solution | Single wireless, disconnection in blocked areas | Power carrier + wireless dual mode, suitable for old lines and scenic buildings |
| Troubleshooting | Manual line patrol positioning | FTU/DTU+ master station positioning, fast power restoration in non-faulty areas |
Delivery challenges and solutions
a.Challenge: Bali is a core tourist area. The impact of large-scale power outages is severe, and power supply cannot be interrupted during renovations.
Solution: The construction will be carried out section by section using live work methods, and the transformation of core scenic spots will be arranged during the low load period in the early morning.
b.Challenge: The original lines are old, communication signal coverage is poor, and data collection is difficult.
Solution: Adopting a power carrier + wireless dual-mode communication solution to adapt to old lines, the communication coverage reaches 100%.
c.Challenge: Local operation and maintenance personnel lack digital capabilities, and the system usage rate is low after it is implemented.
Solution: Carry out special training for local operation and maintenance personnel and build a remote technical support system to ensure normal operation of the system.
Project results
Remote automatic meter reading replaces manual work, and the meter reading efficiency is increased by 100%; the fault location accuracy is ≤100 meters, the power restoration time in non-faulty areas is shortened by 70%, and the line loss rate is reduced by 2.5 percentage points.
